Want to be a great contributor to national and local radio programmes? This course will prepare you to be the best radio guest you can be. Have you been asked to be a guest on radio before and turned down the opportunity or sent a colleague in your place? Should you be getting your message out to your clients and customers through the medium of radio? Do you have to go on radio from time to time? Then this is the course for you.

Jenny, a seasoned presenter, will give you lots of useful advice and tips, and take you through all the dos and don’ts of contributing to both live and pre-recorded radio shows. She’ll help you learn how to promote yourself and your business or organisation and to successfully represent yourself and your points of view.

This one-day course will cover:

  • how to think radio
  • what to expect from the time you arrive at the radio station
  • understanding the show’s needs and tailoring your contributions accordingly
  • what questions to ask before you go in and how to prepare
  • what not to do
  • how to handle difficult questions and what to say when you don’t know the answer
  • how to approach telephone contributions
  • how different radio stations operate
  • the role of the producer, the researcher and the broadcast co-ordinator
  • what you are most likely to encounter in studio
  • how to deal with a grumpy, adversarial or uninterested presenter
  • how to be the guest that gets asked back
  • how to pitch ideas for discussion
  • practical tips and advice to make radio contributions rewarding for your career or company
