Public speaking: Find your voice

One of Kathleen’s great passions is working on the possibilities of the voice and how speakers can become both comfortable and commanding. She has been teaching acting and voice for more than 30 years at various institutions, including Villanova and Penn State universities in the US. She has taught professional actors, women’s groups, business people and private students.

Kathleen is the owner and director of a drama school, Flying Turtle Productions at the Abbey School of Music and Drama, which provides part-time acting tuition for all ages and levels of experience. She also works as an actor and voiceover artist with Volcanic Voice Talent Agency.

Until recently she was the acting company manager for TEAM Educational Theatre, a theatrical production company established more than 35 years ago out of the Abbey National Theatre.

She has also worked in marketing for companies such as Disney Theatrical Group, The Baseball Network, Task Force Europe and Accent on Theatre Parties (Broadway Group Sales). She has an MA in acting and directing, and a BA in related arts and theatre.

In her leisure time, Kathleen loves getting her hands dirty in the garden and finds few things as rewarding as fresh rosemary. Her passions include cooking, family and, when all is well with the work/life balance, she loves to sneak out and indulge in windsurfing!
